SPECIAL UPDATE: 'Due to the Western Australian Government being in caretaker mode, the following speakers have had to withdraw their presentations; Hazel Kural, Duncan Ord and Steve Moir.

Under the topic of Sustaining Businesses, Housing and Labour we are pleased to announce the inclusion of Mr Kevin Austin. Mr Austin will be presenting on the Timor - Leste youth employment migration program which may pilot in the Kimberley.

We would also like to announce a presentation by Dr Steve Petty from the Northern Development Company. Dr Petty will be speaking under the topic of Agriculture and the opportunities and challenges in the northern beef industry.

The Kimberley Economic Forum will consist of 3 events:

 

1. Welcome Dinner with Keynote Speaker held on Thursday 21st August.

 

2. A Full Day of Speaker Presentations on Friday 22nd August.

 

3. Closing Cocktail Function held on Friday 22nd August.

 

 

 

The Kimberley Economic Forum aims to:

 

- Raise awareness of opportunities, challenges and issues relating to Economic Development in the Kimberley Region.

 

- Provide a forum for Kimberley Businesses and Communities to engage with each other and with interested stakeholders from outside the region.

 

- Provide a unique opportunity for organisations to engage the Regional Business Community and in doing so outline their vision, management approach and the economic benefits their development will provide to the region.

 

 

 

With an expected attendance of 150 participants, the Forum Topics presented by Local, State and National speakers will include –

Commonwealth Government environmental management impact on the region”

Resource industry approaches and environmental impact on the region”

How the Kimberley can best benefit from the proposed Browse Basin Development”

 

2.      Agriculture/Primary Production

Trends, pressures and challenges in the agricultural industry”

Ord Irrigation expansion: incremental growth Vs the big bang!”

The importance of thinking globally through alliances – the emerging Sandalwood industry example”

 

3.      Tourism

The economic impact of art in a regional economy”
